BODY RESONANCE WORKSHOP con YUMIKO YOSHIOKA

YUMIKO YOSHIOKA, COREOGRAFA DANZATRICE E INSEGNANTE ATTIVA DA DECENNI NEL PANORAMA DEL BUTOH EUROPEO E MONDIALE, TORNA QUEST’ANNO PER UN SEMINARIO DI TRE GIORNI.

Il lavoro educativo e performativo di Yumiko è volto ad esplorare l’immaginazione e a trasformarla in motore e sorgente del movimento. Il corpo diventa contenitore del tempo ed un recettore tramite il quale attingere ad un immaginario collettivo e personale. Attraverso un percorso basato sull’improvvisazione e sul processo di sensibilizzazione corporea, instaura un dialogo con le immagini attingendo all’energia vitale che risiede nelle memorie collettive del nostro passato attraverso un viaggio di esplorazione.

ll Seminario si articola in una prima parte di lavoro di sensibilizzazione e allenamento, attraverso pratiche che appartengono sia propriamente al Butoh sia al Noguchi Taiso ( due tecniche che Yumiko fonde ) per arrivare ad una libertà di espressione e qualità di movimento e articolazione che siano profondamente connesse sia con l’immaginario che con il corpo. Una seconda parte della giornata invece più dinamica dedicata all’improvvisazione. Ognuno riesce a seguire il lavoro, quindi anche chi non è danzatore professionista trova la sua esperienza, perchè non si tratta di un lavoro formale, bensì di un processo in cui corpo è fortemente stimolato ed esplorato nelle sue capacità espressive.

‘’I call my dance approach “Body Resonance.”

The world, including our body and soul, consists of vibrational waves that create constant resonances like echoes. When we tune our body to a certain frequency, we get a resonance, and according to the frequency, we get different resonances. In order for this to happen, we need to first get rid of unnecessary tension. We make a white canvas of our body to paint new color on it. I teach this as neutralization, encouraging a close to a zero-state, scouring off rust and polishing antenna to catch waves from a profound layer of the body.

Yumiko Yoshioka:

Regista, coreografa e danzatrice Butoh. Nata a Tokio, risiede in Germania dal 1988. E’ stata mem- bro della prima compagnia femminile giapponese di teatro- danza Butoh ARI-ADONE e nel 78 presenta a Parigi, con Ko Murobushi e Carlotta Ikeda, “Le Dernier Eden”, prima performance Butoh europea. Dall 1988 al 1994 è stata membro della compagnia tedesco-giapponese TATO- EBA con Minako Seki e Delta Ra’i, presentando il loro lavoro in Germania, Giappone e America del Nord. Nel 1995 fonda a Berlino la compagnia Ten Pen chii Art Labor; vive tra Tokio e l’Europa tenendo workshop e performance in tutto il mondo.

“As an artist, I explore the nature of the edges of the world around me. Through an investigation of the pres- ent, connection, evolution, and coexistence, I imagine a bridge to travel between the visible and invisible. This bridge creates a space for the body to unfold its secrets, to reveal itself through rediscovery of its value as a receptacle of cosmic time, memory, and perspective.

Butoh is the dance of transformation which allows me to experience the world from a different point of view. Changing perspectives from human to animal to cosmic creates a constant feedback loop between my imagination and my body. As both artist and teacher, I use these perspectives and the layers of body memory to be the channels, catalysts, resonators. Through this dialogue I learn to be moved by both the internal and external forces that exist all around.”
